Dorst & Lesser

Aces of Space was approached for a concept-based office redesign that would resonate with the Dorst & Lesser DNA and cause a ripple effect that goes way beyond the aesthetic. 

THE CONCEPT
The concept for the design was sourced from the deep wells of wisdom at the heart of Tao philosophy. The Taoist ‘Be Like Water’ credo highlights the benefits of remaining adaptable, transformative, agile, and fluid at all times. The link with the fluid concepts or ‘thirst quencher’ and ‘watering hole’ felt like an instantly natural fit. The Dorst & Lesser core business of making brands more social - tapping into the fast-flowing trends and developments of social media - demands a fluid approach. ‘To be like water’ also has a refreshingly ambitious element: instead of rigidly trying to hold on to previous successes, it’s better to try and find new angles, new shapes and forms. 

THE CHALLENGE
The concept of the Dorst & Lesser office redesign had to be perfectly suited to the brand DNA, but also to their fluid way of working and diverse team set-up. Aces of Space created an open and zero-boundaries atmosphere for hybrid workspaces that can adapt to whatever the needs of the team might be. In fact, the ‘be like water’ concept resonated so much with the team, Dorst & Lesser decided to incorporate it into their brand identity. What started out as an office design, ended up enriching and strengthening the brand itself. 

DESIGN DETAILS
The overall immersive experience of the Dorst & Lesser office space is open and fluid. But you’ll find a different shape or aspect of water in every specific area to enhance the functionality of the design. The entrance area is called ‘The Drop’ and if you ‘drop by’ (pun intended), you’re welcome to take your D&L water from the fridge in the H2O bar. A bit deeper down toward the office core you’ll find ‘The Playground’, a multifunctional space where people can have lunch, dive into a meeting, host an event or make a splash presenting on the different stages.
